Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)                                                                                      

Our IRS-certified volunteers will be preparing FREE income tax returns for elderly, disabled, and/or low to moderate income households. Our services will be available starting on January 22nd, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 9AM-3PM in our offices, with additional community outreach events on the days listed below:

Saturday, February 2nd at the Mel and Elnita Rank Community Center in Fort Thompson

Tuesday, February 5th in the Big Bend District

Thursday, February 7th in the Crow Creek District

Appointments are encouraged, but not necessary. To make an appointment or for questions please contact Hunkpati Investments Staff at 605-245-2148. Please come prepared with the following documents:

• Social Security Cards of You, Spouse, and all Dependents.
• A Valid Photo ID
• W2s
• All Other Tax Documents (1099, SSA, etc.)
• Last Year’s Tax Return (Not Required- But it will make it go faster!)

Our free tax preparation services are available from mid-January to mid-April each year.  Since 2009, Hunkpati Investments staff and volunteers have prepared 376 tax returns, bringing an estimated $760,000 in refunds back to Crow Creek families.
