The Dakota Culture Integration project was a collaborative effort of local tribal programs and cultural resources to incorporate Dakota values, language, history, and culture into existing Hunkpati Programs and to infuse pride into our community youth.
The purpose of the Dakota Culture Integration Project was to blend traditional Dakota concepts into the Hunkpati Investments current programs, such as the buy-grow fresh food initiative, the savings, and workforce development curriculums.
Presentations and interactive events were organized and then attended by 245 area youth, ages ranged from 6 years old to 21 years, which was Hunkpati’s targeted audience since approximately 44% of the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation’s population are under the age of 21.
